Not long ago, I had the opportunity to talk about my novel, Pigtails and Potter's Field, in Montpelier, VT. During this interview, I shared some of my thoughts on a rather serious subject matter that has affected millions of people throughout the world and shed more light on this riveting and very relevant storyline.
A work of this magnitude is never undertaken alone. We must remember when reading that real people have walked this path. They've endured physical and emotional pain, betrayal at every level, and had their lives radically transformed - much like the characters depicted in this book. Some things you just can't sugarcoat. Reality isn't always neat and pretty. To the best of my ability, I've tempered what I could and will let the rest fly on its own. Though this book is filled with heartfelt moments and victories, it's not for the faint of heart.
Through my writing, I desire to empower and challenge individuals to remain steadfast and sensitive in a vastly desensitized world - a world that is becoming harsher and more selfish with every passing day. I implore you to guard your hearts. I'm convinced that a vileness and evil has been unleashed unlike we've ever seen or experienced. The "genie" is out of the bottle.
There is hope! We have what we need to set this evil force back and neutralize it. This weapon is able to establish an impenetrable line of defense. It is, however, unconventional and not something you'll find widely used by any mercenary or military in this world. This battle will be fought by those who've contended for their faith - not with firearms.
Take a deep breath. You've come so far. You are not alone. Together, armed with unyielding faith and unmerited forgiveness, we will be merciful, stalwart, unflinching and indomitable. I remain, Kathleen
